Wanda was an art teacher, a proud Daisy Garden Club member, avid traveler, exquisite cook, and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Also, quite possibly the most enthusiastic hostess to ever walk this earth. She didn’t simply throw a party; she hosted an EVENT. If you walked through her door, you were going to be fed, entertained, and probably encouraged to stay longer than you intended. She was, without question, the “Hostess with the Mostest.”
Wanda shared a wonderful life with her husband, Bob, who was the Texas High band director for 30 years, and together they brought plenty of music, creativity, and personality wherever they went.
She loved beautiful things, great food, even greater company, and above all, making memories. She could turn an ordinary gathering into a celebration and somehow make sure there was always one more dish on the table than anyone could possibly eat.
Wanda was one of a kind. She had opinions, style, and she certainly had her way of doing things—and heaven help anyone who tried to tell her otherwise.
She leaves behind a very loving son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sylvia Ingram, granddaughters, Catherine Lawrence, husband Lawson and Megan Harrison. Her family will miss most of all the laughter she brought into any room along with her vivid story telling, cooking, parties, and the unmistakable presence that could fill a room before she even said a word.
We want to celebrate Wanda’s beautiful life now that she is reunited with so many loved ones. She has already found the perfect garden, planned a dinner party, and is telling everyone else how it should be done—with her usual flair and style.
Rest easy, Wanda Mae. Save us a seat—and please over serve us with your signature sangria when we get there.
We love you to the moon and back, our sweet Wanda Mae.
Love,
Catherine.
