

William D. "Bill" King, Jr., age 75, of Texarkana, Texas passed away on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at his home. William was born July 12, 1947 in Paris, TX. He was a member of Cross Pointe Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He came to Texarkana in 1987 as assistant director of Texarkana Water Utilities and later became the executive director of TWU where he retired in 2018. He accepted Christ as his savior and Lord at Emmanuel Baptist Church at the age of 13 in Paris, TX. His fondest childhood memory is sitting at his grandfather's feet while his grandfather read the Bible everyday. He loved photography and taking pictures of wildflowers, landscapes, animals and people. He was commonly known as the snake man, as he did programs for Boy Scouts, schools and EMT regarding handling snake bites and identifying reptiles. Mr. King was responsible for instituting a treatment program for removing taste and odor problems caused by algae blooms twice a year from Texarkana drinking water. He also facilitated a program that started fiberoptic and cable for Texarkana. He was an avid researcher for genealogy and family research. He loved his family deeply.
Preceded in death by his parents, William Dossie King and Lela Mae Jackson King.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Pamala Ann Bishop King of Texarkana; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Aaron and Emily Rebecca King of Huntsville, AL and William Leslie and Bárbara Cristina Silva King of Austin, TX; God daughter, Bailey Nicole Williams of San Antonio, FL; grandchildren, Langston Everett King, Jonah Pierson King, Callianne Eden King all of Huntsville, AL., and Rafael Cortez Silva King of Austin, TX; sisters, Sydney Beth Jackson King of Paris, TX and Sherry Jean King Moree and her husband Scott Moree of Paris, TX and several cousins, niece and nephews he loved dearly.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2022 at Cross Pointe Baptist with Rev. Bubba Rainwater officiating. Burial will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Evergreen Cemetery in Paris, TX under the direction of East Funeral Home, Moores Lane.
Those honored to serve as active pallbearers are Philip Ball, Scott Moree, Oris Kemp, Gary Smith, Mike Hackworth and Bill Clements.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022 at the funeral home.
