William A. Prather 85 of Texarkana,Texas passed away on May 6, 2013 at his residence in Texarkana. Mr. Prather was born June 20, 1927 in Arlington,Texas. He was retired from General Motors, was a volunteer firefighter for the city of Arlington,Texas. He was a Baptist and a member of the National Guard and has been a Master Mason for more than sixty years. Mr. Prather was also a member of the Woodlawn Historical Society and took care of the cemetery. He enjoyed playing piano, fishing, working crossword puzzles and going dove hunting and caring for others. Mr. Prather was preceded in death by his mother and brother and three sisters. Mr. Prather is survived by many loving nieces and nephews and many friends. Sevices are scheduled for 2:00 Friday May 10, 2013 at East Funeral Home-Downtown Chapel with Brother Jim Rust officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 on Friday before the service. Uncle Bill, I only got to meet you one time..but I have heard MANY great things about you. I am so glad you were there for my husband and his family growing up throughout the years. You had a special impact on them and I am forever grateful.
I know you are in a better place now.
