Albert Harvey Newton III, 78, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, of Spring, Texas, went to meet the Lord on April 30, 2015. He was born in Kingfisher, Oklahoma on September 13, 1936 and for the next few decades left his mark across the country, including service in the Armed Forces in Alaska from 1954 to 1957. Al graduated from L.C.C.H.S. in Kansas and received a bachelors and masters degree in Geology from Northeast Louisiana State University (ULM). He married Karen Donaldson on September 9, 1967 and began their 48 year journey together. Al had a career in the oil industry for 20 years, becoming president of Prudential Oil and Gas. With retirement, he launched a new business venture and developed a successful family business that at one point became the place of employment for all of his children. Al was also elected to the Southern Montgomery County MUD board and served on the GRP committee of the San Jacinto River Authority for many years. He was a long time member of Spring First Church in Spring, Texas and had a passion for Men's fellowship, and leading bible studies, always the voice of wisdom and reason. He also traveled to Mexico with The Mission Team and his selfless service impacted many communities by helping to build churches and provide meals. An avid cook and skilled hunter, Al's venison dishes and famous brisket were enjoyed by his friends and family. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Newton; children, Theron Harvey Newton and wife, Michelle, Melanie Jenkins and husband Jim, Deborah Newton-Wills and husband Dr. David Wills; grandchildren David A. Edge, Jacob H. Newton, Nicola J. Newton, Z. Riley Newton, Gavin D. Wills, and Jessica L. Jenkins; great- grandchildren Liliana Jenkins, Brennan Beaty Edge, and Richard Jenkins; siblings Jane Newton Dill and husband Tolly of Henderson, Texas, Dean Newton Barber of Powder Springs, Georgia, Marie Newton Middleton of Atlanta, Georgia, and Jerry Newton and wife Joanne of Ft. Payne, Alabama; mother Ollie Gaubert Newton of Atlanta, Georgia. Albert is preceded in death by his father, Albert Harvey Newton, Jr., and granddaughter Meagan C. Edge. The viewing will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Forest Park The Woodlands and funeral services will be held Monday, May 4, at 1:00 pm on at Spring First at 1851 Spring Cypress Road, Spring, Texas. Interment will follow at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.
