

Alta Blix Gammenthaler, 90, of The Woodlands, Texas passed peacefully in her home on September 12, 2016. She was born in Medina, Texas on December 14, 1925. Blix graduated from Medina High School and loved going back for the regular class reunions. She married Orville Gammenthaler on June 5, 1949. She left Medina after graduation and moved to San Antonio to work at Kelly Air Force Base. She worked there until she and Orville moved to Houston in 1956. Blix was proud to be from the Texas Hill Country and loved to keep up with relatives and friends from across the country. When she had the opportunity, she loved to travel. She was a member of Stonebridge Church and a former member of First Baptist Church-New Braunfels where she was a member of the Son Shine Singers. Blix was preceded in death by her loving husband, Orville, her brother Charles Avery Fee, sisters Natalie Orand and Oneta Runk. She is survived by her son, Brian Gammenthaler and wife Donna of The Woodlands. Grandchildren, Kyle Gammenthaler and wife Mandy of College Station, Amy Gammenthaler and Kevin Gammenthaler, along with great grandchildren, Grant Scott and Emma Grace (due to arrive January 2017). Thank you to her Hospice Plus nurses, Lisa, Lynn, Allison and Steven. Our deepest appreciation goes to those that lovingly cared for her, Rochelle, Marquisha, Jackie and Johnny. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm on Friday September 16, 2016 with the service to be held at 10:00am, Saturday September 17, 2016 at Forest Park-The Woodlands. Burial will be in Bandera, Texas on Saturday September 17th at 4:30pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity.
