Anthony Boniface Soord

Our father, Anthony Boniface Soord sadly passed away on Tuesday September 10th 2024. He is resting in peace. He is preceded in death by Lillian (Wife), Stephen (Son) Colleen (sister), Hyacinth (sister) Bill (brother) and all other family members that are waiting for him.

Dad was born in Mandalay, Burma (Mayanmar) on July 29, 1938 to Richard and Helen Soord and had two brothers(Maurice and Bill) and three sisters (Colleen, Hyacinth and Norine). Dad was the youngest and he is survived by his children Peter (Marie), Karen(Daemon) and Sherina (Cameron) along with his five grandchildren Brandon, Kethan, Skylar, Zane and DJ.

Burma was mostly jungle back then and dad often told us stories and how much he missed living in the jungle, and about the tigers and the rotten monkeys that would steal, bite and throw stuff at them ... "mischievous little guys" he called them. Burma was under British rule when WW2 ended all the way up to 1948 and everything was in English, schools, books, language and then Burma got their independence and ruled that now everything has to be in Burmese, Dad's family decided to leave by ship to the United Kingdom on the SS Salween arriving in London on 16th September 1950 after a 30 day voyage, at age 11. He lived in London eventually meeting and marrying Mom in 1960 before moving to Warrington where he served in the Royal Air Force base at Burtonwood, we all lived in Warrington until 1977 when Dad decided we were going to move to America. We were all excited and nervous about this big step but we knew Dad was looking out for all of us.

Dad was a devout Catholic and attended St. Michael the Archangel Church in Houston.

He loved to travel and he did all over the place even returning to Burma at one point. They traveled everywhere and loved going on cruises. One thing Dad loved to do was to play cards, from his younger days to his older days , his game of choice was always 31 and he nearly always beat everyone! It was always so good to see him smile he loved his family and knew his family loved him back. He will be missed!

A visitation for Anthony will be held Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384. A funeral mass will occur Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Michael the Archangel Chapel, 24001 Aldine Westfield Rd., Spring, Texas 77373. A committal service and interment will occur Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384.
