Pastor Arlyn J. Hausmann, born February 2, 1935, passed away on September 30, 2026, leaving behind a rich legacy of faith, service, and devotion to his family and community. Raised on his family’s farm-ranch in Goliad County, Texas, Pastor Hausmann dedicated his life to pastoral ministry with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).
Pastor Hausmann graduated from Goliad High School in 1952 and went on to earn his degree from Texas Lutheran University in 1956. He continued his theological studies at Central Lutheran Theological Seminary in Fremont, Nebraska (now merged into the Lutheran School of Theology), earning a Master of Divinity degree in 1960. Following a year of graduate study from 1960 to 1961 at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität in Erlangen, Germany, he was ordained on November 5, 1961, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in the Ander Community of Goliad County.
Beyond his ministry, Pastor Hausmann had a passion for aviation and enjoyed flying his airplane, which he incorporated into his pastoral work. He also took great joy in working on classic cars and loved traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mildred "Millie" (Marek) Hausmann; his daughter, Elizabeth "Liz" (Hausmann) Schaer; his grandchildren, Destiny Andrews, Aaron Schaer, and Austin Andrews; sisters-in-law Margie (Marek) Brune and Faye Ahlers; brother-in-law Wayne Ahlers; nieces Annette (Ahlers) Robertson, Merri (Hausmann) Meriwether and husband Wade (and their daughter Maci), and Sarah (Homer) Poole and husband Greg (and their daughter Charlotte); nephew Duane Ahlers; and numerous loving cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Shirley (Ahlers) Hausmann; his daughter, Donna Andrews; grandson Jonah Andrews; brother Larry Hausmann and his wife Betty Nowell Hausmann; sister Vanita Hausmann Homer and her husband Steve Homer; brothers-in-law Lellius Brune and Arlan Ahlers; and nephews Glen Hausmann and Alan Hausmann.
A funeral service will be held at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 3801 S Panther Creek Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77381, US, on October 9, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
A Reception will immediately follow at the same location.
