He was born November 29, 1951 in Alamogordo New Mexico, the son of Eduardo Hernandez Salas and Petra Roman Salas. He studied Electrical Engineering at New Mexico State University and Eastern New Mexico University. Upon graduation from NMSU he entered the Energy industry where he spent his entire professional career of 35 years as an Engineer, Manager, Instructor, and Director.
He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Mariela Salas; daughters Andrea Alejandra Salas and Monica Salas King; son Arturo Nicholas Salas Junior; brothers Carlos Salas and Raphael (Rifle) Salas; and sisters Barbara Estrada, Veronica Salas, and Susan Swaim.
Arturo (Túri) was a devoted husband and father. His favorite sport was basketball which he loved watching and playing. He competed in amateur tournaments many of which his team won. He spent much of his weekends working in his workshop doing home projects. He loved spending time with his family and friends in the United States and Peru. He was an avid photographer, enjoyed traveling the world and was always seeking new adventures in life.
