Barbara Jordan Almaguer, a beloved wife, sister, stepmother, aunt, and faithful servant of God, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 23, 2026, in The Woodlands, Texas, following a courageous, long battle with cancer.
Born and raised in the close-knit community of Mt. Olive, Mississippi, Barbara was the fourth of six children. She shared an unbreakable, lifelong bond with her siblings. Together, the five sisters were an inseparable force, traveling the world, sharing endless laughter, and supporting one another through every season of life.
Her passion for adventure extended into her remarkable career. Barbara served as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines for 36 years. Her wings took her worldwide, and her warm smile and grace touched countless passengers and colleagues across decades of dedication to the skies.
Back on the ground, she found the love of her life in her husband, Rudy Almaguer whom she married in 1984. In marrying Rudy, she lovingly embraced her role as a stepmother to his four adult children, anchoring the family with her generous heart. She was also an absolutely amazing aunt to her 11 nieces and nephews, all of whom completely adored her and cherished her fun-loving spirit.
Above all, Barbara was a woman of profound Christian faith. She loved the Lord deeply and walked with Him daily. While she will be dearly missed by those she leaves behind, her family takes immense comfort in knowing she is exactly where she longed to be: in heaven, looking upon the face of Jesus, and joyfully reunited with her beloved Rudy and the family members who went before her.
She is survived by her brother, Charles (Julie) Jordan of Pearl,MS, her sister Eva Thomas of Jackson, MS, her stepchildren Randy (Debbie) Almaguer, David (Jill) Almaguer, Jackie (Scott) Humphrey and Kim Almaguer. Grandchildren Austin (Alison) Almaguer, Ryan (Kendall) Almaguer, Chase (Marcela) Almaguer, Jakob Humphrey and Jaron Humphrey. Great-grandchildren Zora Almaguer, Eiza Almaguer and Max Monti.
