Bernhard M. Sivertson, 87, of Montgomery, Texas, passed away on May 13, 2015. He was born in Underwood, Minnesota to Jens and Anna (Baardson) Sivertson on December 7, 1927. He graduated from Underwood High School in 1946.
Bernie married Elaine Hauge on June 5, 1949 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. They were blessed with four children. After retirement they moved to Montgomery, Texas in 2002. He loved to go ice fishing and deer hunting in Minnesota, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his family.
Bernie served our country in the United States Marine Corps from 1946-1948, stationed in the Philippines. He also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves during the Korean War. Most of his life he worked in electrical construction. He belonged to I.B.E.W. Local Union 343 in Rochester, Minnesota.
Bernie is survived by his wife, Elaine; children Mark (Val) Sivertson, LeAnn (George) Vollmer, Barbara (Craig) Byington, and Jane (Mike) Minarovic; grandchildren Kara Sivertson Harris, Eric Sivertson, George, James and Alex Vollmer, Matthew, Jonathon and Laura Byington, Evan, Ava and Grace Minarovic; great-grandchildren Camryn Byington, Brooke Harris, Gabe and Amelia Sivertson and Nicholas and Ivy Synkow; sisters Alice McDonald, Norma Martin, Beatrice Heath, and sister-in-law Patti Sivertson. He is preceded in death by grandson Benjamin Lee Byington, his parents Jens and Anna Sivertson , sister Maureen Larson, brother Paul Sivertson, brothers-in-law Burton Larson and Joel McDonald.
