Beth Judith (Abbey) Black passed away peacefully with family by her side on November 23, 2017. She was 52 years old. Beth was born in Iron Mountain, Michigan on October 17, 1965. Her family moved to Texas when Beth was a toddler.

Upon graduating from Galena Park High School in 1984, she worked as an administrative assistant for Moran Shipping Agencies, Inc. On August 8, 1986, Beth married James Black and moved to The Woodlands, TX to start a family.

Beth was a member of The Woodlands Country Club, where she loved to attend Sunday brunches and lunching with her closest friends. Beth had passions for cooking, decorating, and being an enthusiastic hostess. She enjoyed pilates classes and traveling with her family and friends. Beth especially enjoyed vacations to visit her husband’s family in Massachusetts, where she loved to go to the beach as often as possible each summer. Much to the chagrin of her husband, she also had a strong passion for shopping. Beth was an avid volunteer throughout her life. In particular, while her sons attended St. Pius X High School, she could be found working at many parent association events, and providing meals and snacks for the football coaches and players at their practices and games. Beth also actively lent her time and support to the annual St. Pius X High School Foundation Gala. Beth is survived by her husband James, and her son James Andrew, his wife Michela, and son Adam; her parents Jan and Tom Abbey; her sisters Janet Martinez, her husband Carlos, Kathy Pagan, and Laura Morgan. Beth was pre-deceased by her brother Thomas Abbey. Beth is also survived by dozens of loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Forest Park Funeral Home, The Woodlands, TX from 5:30-9:00 PM on November 27, 2017. Her Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday November 28, 2017 beginning at 11:00 AM at Saints Simon and Jude Catholic Church, The Woodlands, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the newly established Beth Black Memorial Scholarship Fund at St. Pius X High School - 811 W. Donovan St., Houston, TX, 77091. To leave an online condolence to the family, please visit our website at: www.forestparkthe woodlands.com

Dear Black Family,
The world is missing a beautiful soul now. As an alum of SPX I feel her dedication to the school was amazing. Her legacy lives on in all the lives she has touched and through your memories.
