Remembering your mom who was a “second mom” to me.  Your mom treated me exactly as though I were her own daughter.  I know y’all miss her very much as she was not only a great mother, but an amazing women.

I’ve known Betty since I was 16 years old, and even as a teenager - I’m sure - making immature decisions, she’s never spoken a harsh word to me. She was always sharing some insight or words of wisdom; always being a guiding light in my life. If Betty ever said, “son, I need you now”, I don’t know what it was, but I did what she asked. It was that type of relationship. And then when our children were elementary, junior and senior high age, Betty and Charlie attended every soccer game, every choir concert, every single dance recital. Always a guiding presence for me, then for our children. I will always remember your influence in my life Betty. Thank you so much for all the kind words, your positive influence, and allowing me to be part of your wonderful family. 

She loved me like family and I loved her very much. Us redheads had to stick together! I loved her fiery spirit and sense of humor.  She always made me laugh!  I always enjoyed visiting with her and getting one of her big hugs.   She was a wonderful lady and she will be greatly missed!  Much love to all the family!~

I worked with Betty in the 70's and 90's. I have great memories with her. She was one sweet lady. I also worked with your sweet Dad in the 80's at Dow Chemical. He was a very sweet gentleman. Sorry you have lost both. My heart is with you and I am so sorry.

I was asked to write a memory.
I have struggled with this one because from the moment I met you and till the end of your journey here as been full of laughter.
You were never afraid to speak your mind and you always had a smile on your face and I still laugh every time I think of you and your kleenex  box and how you would give a big smile when I would say here is you kleenex!!
You never let me forget that because of that 1 time I forgot to put it back beside you that day!!
May you rest in peace my sweet friend and watch over our Boys and make sure we get to the Super Bowl this year and win!!! Who Dat🖤💛🖤💛

I know on that November day when Jesus held out his hand to my dear sweet sister Betty Jo and said" Welcome home my child" there was rejoicing in heaven. Now even though there is an empty spot in my heart for her I know she is happy with her husband Charlie and her son Charlie. Give mama a hug for me. Betty Jo, twenty-one years ago, I met you for the first time. It was Thanksgiving, and Linda had brought me to Debbie’s house to meet the family over dinner. It was the first of many events like that.  One of the things that I learned about you at that dinner is how good a cook you were. Over the years I had many of your specialties including pan fried chicken and okra and tomatoes. Today I was making seven-layer dip using your recipe. Linda says it’s good, but I don’t think it’s as good as you used to make. For that and many other reasons, you will be missed. 

My memories of Mrs. Reese & the entire Reese family are happy & plentiful.  I met Pammy in Kindergarten & we have remained loving & close friends to this day.  Mr. & Mrs. Reese were like a second set of parents to me.   It seemed I spent just as much time at the Reese's house from the time I was five until  I was around 14/15.  The Reese's were wonderful to me: they fed me--literally--COUNTLESS  meals, allowed me to spend the night/weekends almost every single week,  took me with Pammy to her private flute lessons & carted me to & from dance lessons & swim meets all the time.   Additionally, I went to SO many softball games with the Reese family & always felt really cool because Mrs. Reese was very involved with the teams & she was very well respected. 
While Mr. & Mrs. Reese were GREAT to me & I was a "guest",  I was definitely treated more like family. This included having to help with all chores around the house & being reprimanded--both of which are very fond & happy memories.  There are entirely too many memories I have of Mrs. Reese, but one that always comes to mind is her laying on the couch watching  old movies in the living room which was at the front of the house.  When we came in after dark, she was always right there on that couch.   This has always been a comforting memory that I hold in my heart.  Another memory I have is that "back in that day & time" not too many mothers worked full time (if at all) & if they did, it was because they were single moms.  So,  it  amazed me that Mrs. Reese had this super nice job  in a super nice office! That was very novel back then & I found it fascinating!  
I also want the Reese family to know how appreciative & grateful MY mommy was to all of you  for how your family took such good care of me & helped her "raise" me.  When Mrs. Reese gets to heaven, she & my mommy will meet again & both will be watching over all of us.

    We remember our visits with Betty Jo and Charles in Houston and also in Louisiana. The visits involved many “catch-up” conversations because lots of things happened between those visits. Betty Jo was a sweet and thoughtful lady who always had a smile. We remember the large “bibs” that Betty sewed for Charlie as he aged and needed help...that was a unique example of Betty’s thoughtfulness!  Through the years our visits became more spread out, but Betty Jo always remembered to keep in touch somehow. 
    Now we share our sympathy with Betty Jo’s family with love from our family, the Kethley cousins (Leon and Ruby Kethley’s offspring) ...Jack Kethley and wife Dixie; Alice Kethley; Leon Edward Kethley and wife Shirley (deceased); and Ruby Kethley Parker and husband Billy.   Prayers for comforting love from God above.  🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻


I worked with Betty Jo at Atwood Oceanics, Inc. here in Houston for 15 years back then and she was the nicest person and worked for Mr.  Turrentine the CEO for the company and was his Executive Admin.  She always had a smile on her face everyone enjoyed being around here.

She would tell me that she would look in the mirror and say, where did this old body come from....l feel like I am 16!

My Daughter Aubrey got to meet her great grandmother for Christmas in 2018. I will always remember the joy in Nana’s face meeting her.

I was lucky enough to work with Betty Jo during my time at Atwood.  I have very fond memories of her class, wisdom and corporate matriarchal presence.  It was then I learned the most important person in the company is not necessarily the CEO, but their admin.  She leaves a strong legacy and her memory has continued to mentor me for many years.

You blessed my life with so many wonderful, fun memories. You and papa were always there for me no matter what and spoiled us like crazy.

 I loved spending those weeks in the summer and weekends with you. The games we played will always be in heart... you sure could dominate at Scrabble!

 I remember you always reminding me how much I liked to get my back scratched when I was little; how I would climb into bed and get right in the middle of y’all for it. I was also never too big to jump in your lap for a hug. 

You’ve been the best grandma a girl could ever hope for and you made my life rich with joy and love. Until we meet again, know I love you and you will never be forgotten.

We didn’t always agree on things, but we both believed in faith, family, and friends, and That no matter where we walk, with God’s help, we will get there.  You made it to the other side of the rainbow Momma. Heaven has a new angel. No more sickness or pain. We shared a lot during the last months of your life. I cherish those memories. 

Celebrate with our loved ones as we celebrate your life—a life well lived. I love you always.
