Bill is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Carol Ann (Weishaupt) Farr; daughters, Tiffany and Courtney; son, Jared and wife, Lauren; grandchildren, Christian and Haley; sister, Lois Rene’ Williams; and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Weishaupt. He is also survived by his nephews and niece, Michael Williams, Daniel Farr and Abigail Williams, and numerous friends. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Billie Bob Farr, Sr. and Dorothy E. Farr, as well as his brother, Randy Farr.
Billie was born on September 10, 1949, in Taylor, Texas and soon moved to Rockdale, Texas, where he spent the remainder of his childhood until graduating from Rockdale High School in 1968. He attended Baylor University on a football scholarship, where he met the love of his life, Carol, on a blind date. Bill and Carol married on August 14, 1971, and shortly thereafter moved to Houston, where he began his 43-year career with Cameron Iron (later Wyman Gordon) as a machinist.
Bill possessed a lifelong love of music, particularly the rhythm and blues. It was not unusual for him to drive or fly thousands of miles to hear his favorite artists perform live, and he would light up when regaling stories about his current musician or song du jour. Billie was a voracious reader – a passion he passed down to his children -- and also enjoyed seeing movies at The Movie Tavern, eating out (Pappasito’s a perennial favorite) and watching sports. Never one to leave the house without a baseball hat, he could always be counted upon to show up with Blue Bell Ice Cream and pecan pie, either in times of need, celebration or “just because.”
Bill lived and breathed for his family, especially his grandchildren, who affectionately referred to him as “Pops.” He loved his family and friends truly and unconditionally, and the indelible Billie Bob-sized hole he has left in our hearts will never be filled.
In lieu of flowers, Bill’s family would like for you to consider making a donation to the charity of your choice.
