On the morning of Monday, June 26, 2023, Candy Brillantes passed away in her sleep-in order to be with Our Lord eternally. Candy had a long and courageous struggle with end-stage renal disease, having frequent dialysis treatments for 8 years.
Candy is survived by her eldest son, Rufino; her youngest son, Christian, and his wife, Lindsey; and her granddaughters Clara and Ava.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel C. Brillantes and was married to him for 26 years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Aginaldo Temploneuvo and Rosario Tulipat.
Candelaria Temploneuvo was born in Bicol, Philippines on February 07, 1953. She was later married to Manuel C. Brillantes at Chapel of the Heart in Quezon City, Philippines by Fr. Renato Curimao. Her first-born son, Rufino, was born on June 23, 1980. In seeking a better life for the family, they flew to the United States in 1987.
Candy gave birth to her second son, Christian, on November 6, 1988. Seeking a better education, she enrolled in the Texas School of Business going into the medical field and graduated at the end of 1991. She worked at Windsong Home Health which later became The Forum at The Woodlands.
She was also business minded; Candy started a small business working with hotels such as The Wyndham, Hotel Sofitel, and The Woodlands Resort.
Candy has always been a strong woman, persevering to overcome challenges in life. Candy survived a stroke in 2005 and lived to see her son, Rufino, as an engineer in the Oil & Gas Industry. She also witnessed her son, Christian, marry his high school sweetheart Lindsey at the Chapel of St. Basil at the University of St. Thomas in 2017. Candy was also blessed to have 2 wonderful granddaughters, Clara (5) and Ava (2). She was a loving mother, grandmother, loyal wife and devoted Catholic.
There will be a viewing at Dignity: Forest Park-The Woodlands on Wednesday, July 5 at 5pm-8pm with a rosary led by Deacon Tony Wallace. There will be a Funeral Mass at Sts. Simon & Jude Catholic Church on Thursday, July 6 at 10am followed by interment at Dignity: Forest Park-The Woodlands at 11:15am.
