Catherine Beatrice Gambrell

Catherine Beatrice Gambrell, age 96, of Spring, Texas passed away on February 22, 2022, at 2:22 am. Cathy was born in Chicago, Illinois on October 10, 1925. She married James M Gambrell on December 24,1946 and was Jim's one true love until he passed after almost 58 years of marriage to his sweetheart, Cathy.

After graduating from Jeff Davis High School in Houston, Cathy worked several jobs until she was hired by Continental Oil Company (Conoco) and began a secretarial career which continued for

decades until her retirement. It was because of her strong work ethic, commitment to her job, and loyalty to Conoco, that Cathy earned a position as an Executive Secretary, a rare accomplishment for an individual who did not have a college education.

Throughout their married life, Cathy and Jim remained active, involved members of Baptist churches in the Houston area. They met at Trinity Baptist Church and later became members of Woodridge and Spring Baptist Church. Cathy loved to sing in the choir, teach Sunday School classes, and attend social gatherings. She enjoyed and occupied much of her spare time with crafts. One of her favorite hobbies was to take pictures at social gatherings and make small memory albums to give to the friends and families who participated in the event. It is not surprising that she became known to many as "The Picture Lady."

Cathy was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband Jim, in 2004. Her only grandchild, Danielle Chastain, and son-in-law Jerry Chastain, both passed in 2019. Cathy is survived by her only child, Shari (Trudy Chastain). She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews who make-up the "Extended Gambrell Family" and have always been good friends as well as close family.

Cathy was the last of a generation of Gambrell aunts and uncles to go home to be with Our Lord. Although we miss her and our other family members who passed before her, we can be happy with the special memories they have left us and with the thought of them reuniting in Heaven as they sing, "When we all get to Heaven, what a day of rejoicing that will be!"

A visitation for Catherine will be held Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Spring Baptist Church, 633 E. Louetta Rd., Spring, TX 77373. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Spring Baptist Church, 633 E. Louetta Rd., Spring, TX 77373. A committal service will occur Tuesday, March 15, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Earthman Resthaven Funeral Home, 13102 North Fwy, Houston, TX 77060.
