Play Tribute Movie

Born 28 April 1939 to Floyd and Kathryn Lucille Thompson, Celia was raised in the lower east palm of the state of Michigan. Celia was something of a contrarian but came by the trait honestly through a determination to right a world so desperately in need of contradicting. As a teen she helped raise her own siblings as a second mother. It was this trait of courageous tenderness and motherly affection that drew the attention of a young Willis Burton “Bill” Sheffield. The two eventually married and raised two daughters of their own while living in Missouri and then Texas.

An intrepid spirit, Celia enjoyed driving for days across the country to visit family and at one point even tried her hand as a businesswoman managing a salon. But it was the act of mothering to which she was continually called, offering this gift to any immediate family or in-laws, fortunate enough to have known her.

When faced with the overwhelming tragedy of the loss of her one true love, Bill, in early 1999, she valiantly elected to use her experience to ease the suffering of others by helping to found and direct the Grief Group at Resurrection Lutheran Church.

It is no small comfort to know she will be welcomed in Heaven into the arms of many of those who she nurtured in life. She is predeceased by her parents Floyd and Kathryn Thompson; husband Bill Sheffield; siblings Dennis Thompson, Robert Thompson, Sue Pearson, and David Thompson.

Celia is survived by her daughters Jennifer Sheffield and Christina da Silva, and sisters Carolyn Hommell, Lucy Moery, and Denise DiMiceli.

There will be a viewing Thursday 2 January at Resurrection Lutheran Church beginning at 8:30am, followed by the funeral service at 10:00am and the committal at the 3:30pm at the Forest Park the Woodlands funeral home. Addresses followed

Biography

Celia Murphy Sheffield is a shining Christian soul who passed from this earth in the evening Saturday December 28 in the company loved ones following a fatal brain hemorrhage suffered on Christmas Eve.

Born 28 April 1939 of Floyd and Kathryn Lucille Thompson, Celia was raised in the lower east palm of the state of Michigan. Celia was something of a contrarian but came by the trait honestly through a determination to right a world so desperately in need of contradicting. As a teen she helped raise her own siblings as a second mother. It was this trait of courageous tenderness and motherly affection that drew the attention of a young Willis “Bill” Burton Sheffield. The two eventually married and raised two daughters of their own while living in Missouri and then Texas.

An intrepid spirit, Celia enjoyed driving for days across the country to frequent family and at one point even tried her hand as a businesswoman running her own salon. But it was the act of mothering to which she was continually called, offering this gift to any immediate family, in-laws, or grandchildren fortunate enough to have known her.

When faced with the overwhelming tragedy of the loss of her one true love Bill in late 1999, she valiantly elected to use her experience to ease the suffering of others by helping to found and direct the Resurrection Grief Group at Resurrection Lutheran Church.

It is no small comfort to know she will be welcomed in Heaven into the arms of many of those who she nurtured in life. She is predeceased by her parents Floyd and Kathryn Thompson; husband Bill Sheffield; siblings Robert Thompson Sue Pearson, and David Thompson; and granddaughter Rose da Silva.

Celia is survived by her daughters Jennifer Sheffield and Christina da Silva, and sisters Denise DiMiceli, Carolyn Hommell, and Lucy Moery.
