He loved and cherished his family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He took great pride and pleasure in being closely involved in his children’s racing activities and thoroughly enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow and mature.
Charlie owned and operated Ford Electric Co. in Houston, TX, for over 30 years. Golf, fishing, and hunting were among his favorite past times, and he was a passionate UT Longhorn fan.
Charlie was a member of NHRA Drag Racing, Division 4. He was a long-time racer and won a number of national and divisional races. During his racing career, he participated in racing events nationwide where he developed hundreds of life-long friendships. He was best known among his many friends for his jokes, overall sense of humor and talent for storytelling. He instilled the love of racing in his children and they will carry on his legacy.
He is survived by his wife Susie; 2 sons: Charles Ford III and Austin Ford and wife Stephanie; 2 daughters: Heather Park and husband Mike; and Dana Self and husband Brian; 2 brothers: Frank Ford and Dan Ford; 2 sisters: Patt Ford and Mary James; 13 grandchildren; mother-in-law Joyce Smith; numerous friends and other relatives; and his precious little pug Hattie Joyce.
He is preceded in death by his parents Dr. Charles Ford and Ann Laura Ford.
