Dear Cody,

I miss you so very much. I miss your “Good morning” hugs, your “I’m Home” hugs when you got off the school bus, in the afternoon, and most of all I miss your big strong hug when it was time for bed. The thing I miss the very most though, after I tucked you in, kissed you good night, and said “I love you Buddy”, was as I was leaving the room, hearing you always say “I love you too Papa”. Those words meant so very much to me.

I also miss our private talks. Those times when we talked about things that made you happy or things that made you feel sad. Thank you for trusting me enough to share your true feelings about things that you felt were important. Thank you for letting me listen to things that bothered or confused you, and allowing me to help you get through times that you had trouble understanding.

Most of all, Cody, I miss the times when you were happy. Your bright eyes and wonderful smile always made everyone feel happy when they were around you.

Rest well, be happy, and know that you were loved by so many in your life. Thank you for being my “Best Friend”.

Love, Papa

No words can express the pain that your family is going through. May God continue to hold you and your family at this painful moment and give you comfort and strength. Look toward the hills for which your strength will come. May God bless you...

To the Parents and Sister of Cody, I am sorry for the loss of a son and a brother. May you all find comfort in the Bible scripture at Isaiah 25:8 where God promises to do away with death forever.

I am going to miss those special pre-Birthday and Christmas phone calls informing me of the things you needed, Like the time you needed 100 25.00 Toys R Us gift cards. I am also going to miss those other phone calls that lasted for an hour or more just talking about video games, fishing, and other fun stuff you were going to do or already did. I like you used to refer me as granma's new husband at first and then granpa later. But I will never forget none of the great memories we shared like fire pit smores. I do hope they have lots of smores, fish to catch and deer to watch. The other granpa Paul
