Dan passed away suddenly in his sleep on August 17, 2024, at the age of 39. He is survived by the love of his life, Stacey, and their five children: Claire, Calvin, Henry, Juliette and Judah. He is also survived by his parents, Carl and Linda Konkel, his brother, Chris, his sister, Blaise, his twin sister, Heather, and a multitude of family and friends who miss him dearly.
Dan’s ultimate joy in life was spending time with his children and Stacey. Whether they were traveling across the country, camping under the stars, or creating excitement at home, he taught his kids how to love, laugh, be courageous, be curious, and most of all, how to be present and have fun in life. His family was his greatest gift.
A devout Catholic, Dan lived his faith every day, practicing what he preached with unwavering conviction. He graduated from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, TX, where his love for theology and philosophy flourished. He shared these passions not just in intellectual discussions, but in the way he lived his life, connecting deeply with both friends and strangers alike.
Known for his fantastical storytelling and ability to infuse humor in nearly any situation, Dan had a way of making those around him feel seen and heard. Whether it was a tall tale around the campfire or a quick-witted joke during a quiet moment, he brought light and laughter to all who knew him.
Dan was a true renaissance man, effortlessly picking up new hobbies and passions. As a talented photographer, he captured the beauty of the world through his lens, sharing his unique perspective with everyone around him. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to create and build, always with an eye for innovation and a heart full of passion. As a youth minister, he guided young people on their spiritual journeys, providing them with wisdom, compassion, and a steady example of living a faith-filled life.
Dan’s love for science, space, and engineering reflected his curious mind and his constant desire to learn and explore. He shared these interests with his children, instilling in them a love for discovery and a sense of wonder about the universe.
He will be remembered as a man who loved deeply, lived fully, and left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of love, faith, and joy will continue to live on in his family and friends.
