Danielle Dee Chastain, 41, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on June 21, 2019. She was born in Houston, Texas on February 24, 1978. Danielle graduated from Oak Ridge High School and received a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Sam Houston State University. Danielle's love for dance began at an early age. As a preteen she joined a local area dance/drill team, Starlettes, and performed routines in competitions and events throughout the community. Her interest in drill team continued through her teen years in junior high school where Danielle became an officer in the Liberty Babes Drill Team at York JHS. After high school, Danielle's interest in travel led her to a brief career as a flight attendant for Mesa Airlines and United Airways Express. In addition, her ability to connect with animals, especially dogs, drew her to become a professional animal care provider and dog walker while living on the East Coast in Bethesda, Maryland. In college, Danielle majored in Fine Arts because of her passion for art history. She was a kind and caring person who called everyone she met her friend. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerry Dee Chastain, her grandfather James “JimDad” Gambrell of Spring, and grandparents James "Bud" and Ava Lee Chastain of Austin, Texas. She is survived by her mother, Trudy “Shari” Chastain, her grandmother Catherine Gambrell, and a 7-year old son. Danielle was the only child of Jerry and Shari. She was dearly loved and will forever be greatly missed.
Jerry Dee Chastain, 72, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on March 25, 2019. He was born in San Angelo, Texas on May 30, 1947. Jerry graduated from Austin High School and received a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from Sam Houston State University. He was married to Trudy “Shari” Gambrell Chastain on March 11, 1972. Jerry was in business with his father-in-law at Gambrell Equipment until his diagnosis and surgery to partially remove a malignant brain tumor in 1981. Following surgery and radiation treatments, Jerry was unable to return to work, but he remained productive at home, involved in church as long as his health permitted, and devoted to his family for 38 years following his cancer diagnosis. He was preceded in death by his parents, James “Bud” Chastain and Ava Lee Morgan Chastain, a brother Perry Lee Chastain, and his father-in-law James Gambrell. He is survived by his wife, Trudy “Shari” Gambrell Chastain and his mother-in-law Catherine Gambrell. At the time of his death, Jerry was survived by his daughter Danielle Dee Chastain until her recent passing on June 21, 2019. Danielle was the only child of Jerry and Shari and their only grandson is 7-years old. Jerry is also survived by his sister and her husband, Marsha and Henry Watts of Austin Texas, as well as 3 nieces, a nephew, their spouses and children. Including Shari’s cousins and their families, Jerry had many relatives in addition to friends praying for him during the 38-years he survived brain cancer. As a result of those prayers and his faith, Jerry experienced the miracle of life well beyond the years expected by medical experts. He was a good, kind, and loving man whose smile and pleasant nature made him a joy to be around.
