

A native of Fort Worth, Texas, Dedra graduated from L.D. Bell High School in 1988, and attended Texas A&M University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1992. During her years at A&M she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, for which she also held roles as chapter treasurer and chapter vice-president. Dedra later went on to a professional career in the financial services industry, and received a Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) designation and Series 7 license. She served in various financial service positions over the span of her career, including her role at Insperity Retirement Services at the time of her death. An animal lover since childhood, Dedra sought vacations and quiet moments in the outdoors, appreciating the beauty of nature. Her passions included supporting animal, equine and wildlife charities, studying Native American traditions and spirituality, and being with her beloved horses.
Dedra is survived by her mother and stepfather, Deborah J. Ellis and Alan Ellis, her father and stepmother, Gregory Webb and Sharon Webb, brother Owen Webb, stepbrothers and their spouses and children, Brad and Margaret Ellis, Gregory Ellis, Jeffery Ellis, Carson Alan Ellis, and her domestic partner of 13 years, Sonya Calooy.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, May 7, 2016, from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. Immediately following the service, all are invited to greet the family during a reception in the adjacent event room.
