Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Donald "Mike" Johnson, age 75, passed away in The Woodlands, Texas, on Thursday, March 13, 2025. Mike was much loved by his large family, most of whom live in The Woodlands. His advice and guidance, which was regularly sought by all, will be genuinely missed.
Mike, the older brother to Dr. Timothy M. Johnson of Ann Arbor, Michigan, was born in Odessa, Texas on July 24, 1949, to Don Edward Johnson and Roberta Ann Johnson. He graduated from Lee High School in Midland, Texas in 1967. He worked in his dad's oilfield services business, Don Johnson Company, from a young age. When he was seventeen, and coming home one evening from working late, he spotted his new neighbor, Marcy Gail Bohannan, who had moved in next door. From that day forward he made it his mission in life to get a date with her, and then later to marry her. As with everything, he always accomplished whatever he put his mind to.
Mike and Marcy were married on August 23, 1969, in Midland, Texas. Mike's greatest joy in life were his children and grandchildren: Michael "Eric" Johnson, husband to Irina Johnson; Jodi Dawn Rutledge, wife of Matthew Harris Rutledge; and cherished grandchildren, Macy Rutledge Creel, wife of Alec Creel and mother of Oliver Hopkinson Creel; Joseph Landon Rutledge, Vivian Michelle Johnson and Jaclyn Gail Johnson. Mike also loved his sister-in-laws, Lori Lowe, Carol Halter, and Sherry Bohannan; brother-in-law Frank Halter and mother-in-law Patsy Bohannan. He was predeceased by his parents and brother-in-law Bill Bohannan Jr., and father-in-law Bill Bohannan, Sr. He also loved his big family of nieces and nephews. Uncle Mike was a shining light to them, and always tried to be available to help with any guidance he could provide.
Mike was a man of many great accomplishments and realized goals. He was the CEO of Centrax International Corp. He always said that "work" was his hobby and his best day was a day spent at the office with his coworkers. He had a clever, inventive mind, and was awarded many patents over the years in oilfield services.
Mike had great friends that he loved like brothers. His favorite night of the week was Wednesday, when he enjoyed Cigar Night with the boys. And, a favorite pastime for him and Marcy was cruising with their friends.
Mike's journey on this earth was one marked by a sharp wit, a brilliant mind, compassion for others, and faith in God. He will be remembered for the profound impact he had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by him.
A Celebration of Mike's life will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384. Following the funeral service will be a graveside service from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery.
