Don is survived by his wife, Terry Kloos: three children - Kevin Kloos, Jennifer Brady, and Matt Vaughan; and grandchildren Luke, Ryan, Eva, and Anna. He is predeceased by his mother Edith, father Robert, brother Robert Jr., and sister Connie.
Don was born on December 9, 1947, in Hacienda Heights, California. He was drafted into the US Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. After the war, he graduated from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona. Following graduation, he started his accounting career with Author Anderson where he met and married his wife, Terry. He transitioned to a long and successful career with Occidental Petroleum. Don’s career took them to Bakersfield, California, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and South America. Don and Terry enjoyed working and traveling during their time in Bolivia and Peru. After moving back to The Woodlands, Texas he continue traveling and worked in Siberia, Russia.
Don enjoyed cars, fishing, camping, home improvement projects and spending time at the lake with family. Although Don was quiet and reserved, he loved solving problems and fixing what was broken. During the holiday’s he was well known for making peanut brittle and for serving amazing margaritas.
He will be missed dearly by all those close to him.
A gathering for Donald will be held Friday, September 8, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 10:15 AM at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, TX 77384, followed by a burial from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM.
