Donnie Lee Wells

Donnie Lee Wells was born in Winnfield, Louisiana, on October 15, 1954, to the union of the late Walter Wells and Elouise Johnson Wells. He completed his earthly journey and transitioned home on Monday, August 17, 2026, at this home in Conroe, Texas, surrounded by his loving family.

Faith, family, and friends were the cornerstones of Donnie's life. He was baptized at Holy Ground Church of God in Christ. He served on the deacon board and taught Sunday School at First Church COGIC in Hammond, Louisiana. Later, at Temple of Faith Non-Denomination church in Conroe, Texas, he continued serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. After moving his membership to The Lighthouse Church in Humble, TX where he volunteered with the Mountain Men ministry, and shared wisdom, encouragement, and guidance with many young men.

Donnie was a proud graduate of Winnfield Senior High School, Class of 1972. He attended Grambling State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration. After graduation, he began a dedicated career with Weyerhaeuser, serving as Purchasing Manager for more than 30 years.

Donnie was united in holy matrimony to Carnell "Connie" Johnson on August 9, 1975. To this union, two daughters were born: Tesha Renee Wells and Patricia "Yibba" Wells Carter. After more than twenty years of marriage, Connie, along with their daughter Patricia and granddaughter Erica, sadly departed this earthly life on February 7, 1998.

God blessed Donnie to love again. He married Quivoia Robinson on June 3, 2006. Together, they were blessed to travel, explore the world, and build beautiful memories for over two decades.

Donnie was a country boy at heart. He was quick-witted, full of humor, and never passed up an opportunity to make others laugh--or to make them think twice before making a major life decision. His favorite pastimes included watching western television shows, fishing, and listening to old-school music.

Donnie leaves to forever cherish his precious memories: his wife, Quivoia Robinson-Wells of Conroe, Texas; his daughter, Tesha Renee Wells Jackson (Chico) of Conroe, Texas; four granddaughters, Kirstan Leonard (Jateren) of Hammond, Louisiana, Kieara Andrews of Conroe, Texas, Madison Jackson of Conroe, Texas, and Bailey Jackson of Conroe, Texas; and two great-granddaughters, Jaylynn Leonard and Jordynn Lyric Leonard, both of Hammond, Louisiana. He is also survived by his sisters, Classie Deborah Johnson (Lionnel) and Zona Gale; his brother, Michael D. Wells; his loving mother-in-law, Velviner Carpenter; his brother-in-law, Herschell Robinson; his forever son-in-law Eric Carter (Candance) of Hammond, Louisiana; his forever brother, Derrick Wilson (Melanie) of Hammond, Louisiana; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, church family, and friends.

Donnie's family extends a special thank-you to MD Anderson and its staff for the care provided, and to Genus Patris Hospice for their compassion and support as Donnie transitioned peacefully.
