She was born in Sherman Texas on October 6, 1921. After that the family moved to the Denison Texas area, where Doris grew up.
Doris graduated from Denison High School in 1940.
She was married to Haskell Butler on December 24, 1940. Though Haskell was the primary breadwinner, Doris worked in school cafeterias for many years and was loved by lots of kids.
They were members of the Red Bluff Church of Christ, and Parkview Church of Christ in Pasadena before moving to the Conroe area where they worshipped with the Woodland Hills Church of Christ in Conroe. Their residence in Conroe was just a few turns down Hope road, about a mile west of here.
She loved to bake, make and paint ceramics and crochet. Her banana nut bread and ceramics won awards at the Montgomery county fair. Doris crocheted blankets, scarves, doilies and most importantly little caps for newborns in the hospital. She made more than 200 and supplied them to the hospital for free. She loved serving others.
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, two sisters and two brothers. She was the last of her generation.
She is survived by her two children, Kenneth Butler, and his wife Dona,
and Dorothy Bollman (Dottie) and her husband Glenn.
She is also survived by Grandchildren, Jason Bollman and his wife Rhonda, Jared Bollman and his wife Lauren, Justin Bollman and Jordan Bollman and his wife Kimberly.
She has 8 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Preston, Ethan, Katy, Kobe, William, Kathryn, River and Florence.
A private funeral arrangements will be held at Forest Park, The Woodlands at 2pm on June 2, 2020.
