Dorothy Young Wellborne, 94, of the Village of Tanglewood, Houston, Texas, went to be with her Lord March 7, 2015.She was born in San Angelo, Texas on July 4, 1920. Dorothy graduated from Austin High School and received her BS/MS from The University of Texas at Austin. She married Roy Wellborne on September 2, 1950 in Austin, Texas.Dorothy's career was in education; she loved to teach. She was a professor at Harding University, Searcy, Arkansas, as well as a dedicated math teacher in Des Moines, Iowa. She also enjoyed community service. She served as President of The Newcomer's Club for two terms, and was a volunteer for the Memorial Hermann Hospital, The Woodlands. She is survived by her sons, Frank R. Wellborne, physician, and daughter-in-law Brenda, William H Wellborne, attorney, and daughter-in-law Julie, grandchildren, Nathan, Chad (Amanda), Alexander, and Alina Wellborne, and two great-grandchildren, Clayton and Creed Wellborne. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Elgin, Hugh, Earl, Joe, John Young, and sisters, Ruby Cade, Ruth Pennington, and Ethel Wilcox.Memorial donations may be made to Woodland Oaks Church of Christ, 7300 Crownridge Dr., The Woodlands, Texas 77382.Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on March 13, 2015 at Forest Park The Woodlands 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384.
