May 1, 2021. She was born August 24, 1940 in Tampa, Florida.
Edie grew up in Wimauma, Florida; graduated from East Bay High School in Gibsonton. She played the Alto and the Tenor Saxophone and was a member of the marching band as well as Future Homemakers of America. Afterwards she attended Brewster Tech College in Tampa.
She was twice married and divorced to Robert Brown, with whom she retained a life-long friendship. They traveled due to Robert’s Air Force career; therefore she found new employment with each move. She worked as an Executive Secretary to the President of Lewis Steel Co. in Springfield, MA; and to the VP of Riggs National Bank in Washington, DC. In South Dakota, she worked as a bartender and later, moving back to FL, became one of Mary Kay Cosmetic’s first saleswomen in the 1970’s as well as for WCI Development Corp. in Sun City Center. She started on the switchboard and moved her way up into the company, the last position being her favorite as the New-Build, Home Buyer Coordinator. She loved details and was relentless in getting her customer’s needs met with the building contractors.
Edie is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Veda Fegenbush and her brother, Allen Fegenbush.
She is survived by her son, Rodney Alderman; daughters, Vivienne Brown and Vicki Oliver; step-son, Michael Brown; sister, Becky Fegenbush Johnson; grandchildren, Alex Oliver, Collin Oliver, Brittany McDaniel, and Braden Alderman; step-grandchildren, Lauren Stover and Greg Brown; one great grandchild; six nieces and nephews, ten great nieces and nephews; one great-great niece; as well as two “adopted” grandchildren, Liam and Ronin Mitchell.
She enjoyed playing the organ and piano, vacationing at the beach, spending time with the young children in her life and cooking large meals for family gatherings. She traveled for many years with one of her best friends, Jean. Edie was a loving soul who put others before her self. Baseball was her favorite sport and she loved watching the Astros play. She was always up for a party, so please help us celebrate her life by raising a toast, sharing a favorite memory and having a laugh.
A Celebration of Life is scheduled from 6pm to 8pm on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Dignity - Forest Park The Woodlands, 18000 Interstate 45 S., The Woodlands, TX 77384.
