Elijah Reyes Posana, Senior Airman and a native Houstonian, passed on May 4th, 2021. He sacrificed his life to save his younger family members from submerging in a riptide off of Surfside Beach, Texas. Through his selfless act, Elijah will forever be known as a hero.
Elijah was born on November 12, 1998 to parents Erneto and Jessica Posana, brother to Elena Posana Ramos. Raised Filipino-American, he spent the early years of his life attending school, church, and making memories with family. He graduated from Memorial High School in 2017 and begun his career in the United States Air Force in 2019. Fellow airmen describe Elijah as “a great troop and a very hard worker” who brought “plenty of laughs and even more humility”.
Elijah was a devoted son, loving brother, and high spirited uncle. To his cousins, he was a vibrant soul and portrayed kindness in every way imaginable. Elijah’s resilient light will forever shine on and continue to make the world a brighter place.
