Elizabeth was a small-town girl at heart but life and the willingness to take a chance allowed her to see and experience much of the world. She graduated high school in Hagerman Idaho and started her career with Pacific Telephone and Telegraph in Seattle where she met her husband, James R. McCreight, a geology student at The University of Washington. Together they started a family and over the subsequent years, James’s work with Exxon moved them around the United States and eventually on to Malaysia and Indonesia.
While Elizabeth enjoyed seeing new sights and trying new things, she also found time to volunteer her time and energy. She especially enjoyed working as a volunteer docent at the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum in Midland, Texas and most recently her work with the Assistance League of Montgomery County in Conroe, Texas.
Elizabeth, an only child, was preceded in death by her parents Beulah and Edward Horn, her husband of 41 years James R. McCreight, and fiancée Ronald K. Zimmerman. She is survived by James B. McCreight and his husband Greg Steadman, Michael K. McCreight, Tammy Zimmerman Hall, Jeff & Kym Zimmerman, Karla Kerr, and Zinda & Karl LeBlanc.
A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home on Saturday, June 11, 2022 at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that a donation be made in Elizabeth’s honor to the Assistance League of Montgomery County
