Elizabeth May Sabaugh, our loving and devoted mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend, entered into eternal life on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on September 4, 1941, in Bad Axe, Michigan, to the late William and Mildred (Mayworm) Edwards, and graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1960. She went on to become a licensed hairstylist, working in professional salons in Royal Oak and Birmingham throughout the 1960s and early 1970s before eventually setting up shop in her home in Sterling Heights.
When she first moved from the farm to the city, she was shown around town by the gallant Richard Sabaugh of Ferndale. They married in 1966 and shared 31 joyful years together until his sudden passing on May 17, 1997. Beth was an exceptional homemaker who brought magic to the everyday and made holidays especially memorable. She loved decorating, gardening, and shopping—particularly thrifting. An avid reader and lover of history, she was endlessly curious and creative, with a zest for life and a deep and abiding faith. A hairdresser by trade and an artist at heart, she brought beauty to everything she touched.
Beth is survived by her children, Suzanne Kaye, Pamela (Fred Backus) Sabaugh, and Stephen (Gyda) Sabaugh; her beloved grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, Victoria, Joel, Nadia, Evelyn, Richard, and Signe; her eight great-grandchildren; and her brothers, Eugene (Jan) Edwards and Bill Edwards; as well as many cherished nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Elizabeth was reunited in Heaven with her siblings, Frank (Phyllis) Edwards, Jeanette (Frank) Minnick, Winnie (Gene) Cleland, Victor Edwards, Wilma Edwards, and Connie Edwards, along with many dear in-laws.
