

Freddie Clinton Smothers, age 84, of Rye, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023. He was born in Houston, Texas on May 27, 1938. Freddie leaves his wife, Nora June, after 61 years of marriage, his son, Marc Clinton Smothers, two grandchildren, as well as great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews, his sisters-in-law Pam Parker and Maria Smothers, and brothers-in-law Gene Squires, Rick Parker and Howard Wiggins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Bernice Smothers Payne, stepfather, Mr. J. B. Smothers, brother, Bryan Smothers, and sister, Marie Squires.
Freddie was a Christian man and a good provider. He was saved and baptized at Berean Baptist Church in Houston, Texas. Freddie publicly professed his faith in Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 13, 1997.
During his earthly life, Freddie was a member of the Texas National Guard, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and was employed at Tex-Fin, Inc. before retiring.
Freddie will be remembered as a good -hearted man who loved his family and friends. He could be very spontaneous, always willing to help someone in time of need or crisis, or just tell a good joke or two. Freddie Smothers will be missed by all who knew him.
A memorial service for Freddie will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home located at 18000 I45, The Woodlands, Texas on Saturday, March 18, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
