It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gabriel Raphael Cantu on June 3, 2026, at the age of 52 in Humble, Texas. He joins his beloved parents, Eulalia “Lala” Cantu who passed in 2009 and Guadalupe “Lupe” Cantu who passed in 2020, as well as other cherished family members, in eternal peace.
Gabriel was born January 5, 1974 in Corpus Christi, Texas to parents Lala and Lupe and brother Thomas. Lupe was a proud Marine who served during the Vietnam War, and traveling the country he so proudly served, gave Lupe, Lala and their sons immense joy. An avid traveler and thrill-seeker, Gabriel lived every journey to the fullest while looking forward to the next adventure with his family. Lupe and Gabriel shared a love of sports, while Lala was the one who brought her love of nature and the outdoors to the family, encouraging fishing and camping trips. Gabriel also had a passion for music, an enthusiasm he shared with his father Lupe. Lala also enjoyed music and shared her love of favorite songs through dancing.
Within this beautiful family was the truly unique relationship between brothers Gabriel and Thomas. The bond between brothers is a complex one built on shared childhoods, unspoken loyalties, and an indestructible understanding of each other. Lupe and Lala give their boys a priceless gift: the bond of brotherhood, unconditional love, and unbreakable trust.
Lala and Lupe enjoyed a marriage of 41 years together and created a family based on their mutual love and devotion. Gabriel and Thomas were raised in a supportive, caring home filled with joy and laughter. Not a day goes by that we don't miss Lala and Lupe, but our hearts are at peace knowing Gabriel is with them now in heaven's embrace.
Gabriel is survived by his brother Thomas Rafael Cantu, sister-in-law Ofelia Cantu, and nieces Alexaundria Cantu and Danielle Jamie Cantu.
