George A. Donaghe, a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Sunday in a peaceful sleep. He was born in Houston, Texas on September 29, 1943 and was very proud to be a native Houstonian. He graduated from Sam Houston State University with a Bachelors and Masters degree. He loved life to the fullest, had an iron will, a ready joke and a smile, and greeted everyone with open unassuming arms.
He is preceded in death by his father, Okla Donaghe; mother, Bonnie Dell Lewis and stepmother, Juanita Donaghe as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marsha Donaghe; daughters, Angela D. Dunwoodie and husband Richard, Jr., Rebecca Donaghe, Tyletha D. Stanley and husband Ken; sons, Kenneth W. Hester and wife Danielle, Keith A. Hester and wife Jenny, Phillip J. Hester and wife Gracie, and 15 grandchildren. Brother, Kay Frank Donaghe and wife Ginnie; step-sister Marylyn Cordell; the late sister-in-law, Jacquie Holland and her husband Bob; sister-in-law, Kim Allen and husband Michael, as well as numerous nieces and a nephew.
A celebration of George's life will be held Saturday, May 21st at 2:00 pm at Forest Park the Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. One of the most uplifting and comforting comments shared with me since George's passing came from his brother, Frank, who wrote "I have 100,000 memories of the kindest person I ever knew." He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
