Georgia was born on July 20, 1937 in Denver, CO, the only child of the late Eugene Arthur and Laura Imogene Ross. On July 1, 1961 she married Daniel F. Balsinger. They moved to New Orleans, LA and eventually settled in Houston, TX.
She earned her BA in Education from the University of Denver and was an English teacher in her early days before becoming a homemaker to raise her children. Mom was wonderfully devoted to her 2 children Craig and Renee and was a loving Grandmother to Megan and David. She enjoyed arts, crafts and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She volunteered with the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTA and the school library when her children were in school. For many years after that, she volunteered with NAM (Northwest Assistance Ministries). Mom was a loyal Texans and Broncos football fan and loved watching them play. She and Dan loved to travel and visited many countries over the years; she especially loved Germany and Switzerland.
Georgia was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Dan, and her parents. She is survived by her son Craig Balsinger; daughter Renee Mena and her husband David Mena; grandchildren Megan Skillern and David Skillern.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Acorn Manor in The Woodlands and Devotion Hospice for their loving care and support.
