Born in Hammond, Indiana, on December 2, 1938, Gerard lived a life marked by faith, generosity, and deep devotion to his family. He graduated from St. John’s Seminary in 1957 and St. Mary’s University in 1962 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He later went on to get his teaching certification from Sam Houston State University.
Gerry’s professional journey reflected both his versatility and adaptability. He began in banking, went on to be an entrepreneur and ended his career with many years of service as a high school Algebra and Computer Science teacher at Aldine High School until his retirement in 2007.
Gerry enjoyed gardening, traveling, and investing—but his greatest joy came from time spent with his beloved wife and family. A lifelong Catholic, his strong faith guided him as a devoted husband, caring father and grandfather, and generous friend. With his warm humor and kind heart, Gerry left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Eleanor (Elly) Brown; his beloved children, Anthony Brown, Laure Connell, Rachael McConnachie, and Ryan Brown; and his cherished sons- and daughter-in-law, Pam Brown, Jim Connell, and Alan McConnachie. He is also survived by his siblings Suzanne Brooks, Thomas Brown, Nancy Poerner, Theresa Bendele, Larry Brown, Gregory Brown, and John Brown. Gerry was a proud grandfather to Ashley (Adams) Sones, Clay Adams, Kathleen Connell, Caroline Connell, Lily Connell, and Isla McConnachie, and a joyful great-grandfather to Akemi Adams, Emelisse Adams, Sawyer Sones, Romy Adams, and Huxley Sones.
His love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was boundless, and he found immense joy in their laughter, milestones, and stories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Jeanette Brown; his brother, Tim Brown; his sister, Jeanette Campion; and his beloved daughter, Lisa Adams.
