

Hernán was born on January 23, 1942 to Hernán Franco and Betty Cantino in San Juan, Puerto Rico. After graduating from the Moses Brown School in 1960, he went on to study at Georgetown University (1964) followed by Tulane Law School (1973).
After graduating with his law degree, he started his first job at Sears as an attorney. He retired from Sears in 1990 and opened a private law practice in Puerto Rico. He retired from law in 2019.
Hernán spent his free time traveling the world often with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with lifelong friends, wine, the symphony (particularly Beethoven), playing golf and was a champion of Puerto Rican statehood.
Hernán was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Cantino; his father, Hernán Franco; and his sister Saribel Marino Franco. Sadly, Hernán was accompanied in death by his brother and best friend Carlos Franco who passed the day after Hernán.
He is survived by his children: Carlos Franco (Christine); Jennifer Franco (Jeffrey); Kristina Franco (Matt); his grandchildren: Alexandria McBride; Anastasia Franco; Nicole Guttadauro; Ella Guttadauro; Ava Franco; William Sigg and Jackson Sigg; and his sister: Beba Franco.
A memorial service in Puerto Rico is being arranged.
