

Howard was born May 19, 1930, in Burkburnett, Texas, to Mabel and Samuel Cooper. He was an ordained minister, provided many years of voluntary service to missions in Mexico, wrote a number of hymns and loved to sing. He also held a life-long passion for flying. Howard proudly served in the U.S. Military and after retiring, worked as a Director for the YMCA and was also a dedicated employee of the U.S. Postal Service; he retired from both. He was married for 58 years to Margie Morgan Cooper, who died on April 16, 2007.
Howard was also preceded in death by his parents Mabel and Samuel Cooper and his siblings Mary Groseclose, Pearl Day, Delbert Cooper, and Carroll Cooper. He is survived by his wife Frances Lee Cooper; his children Sheran McCants of Brenham, Texas, Barbara Weber (John) of Montgomery, Texas, Jerry Cooper (Vanida) of North Las Vegas, Nevada, and Charles Cooper (Frances) of Lenexa, Kansas; his stepson Luis Manuel Guzman, Jr.; his grandchildren Edward McCants, Shelley Hungerford, Christy Weber, Jason Cooper, Kaleigh Cooper, Liam Cooper, and Alex Cooper; his great-grandchildren Robert McCants, Kevin McCants, Monique Smalls, Myca McElveen, and Cameron Cooper; and his sister Karen Adams.
Howard will be buried in Forest Park – The Woodlands in The Woodlands, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Howard’s name to your place of worship or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
