Ida, referred to lovingly by her family as Mimi, was born on April 13, 1946 in Havana, Cuba, to parents Ramon Perez Soto and Alicia Moreda Luis.
While in Cuba, she worked in financial planning and accounting. She loved spending time with friends, singing and dancing to ballads through the night and past sunrise. The pristine beaches of the Caribbean and the natural parks of Cuba were places she frequented and always kept in her heart. In December of 1988, she immigrated to Miami, Florida where she worked as a cook for more than 20 years while also making time for her grandchildren and outings with friends. She retired in 2008 and moved to the Woodlands, Texas.
She always had a youthful spirit and channeled that by working at a Montessori school after moving to Texas.
She enjoyed spending time surrounded by nature and playing canasta and bingo with friends. She lived for her family and was happiest when spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Everyone who had the opportunity to meet her will remember her for being full of love, always, laughing and smiling.
Mimi is survived by her children Betsy and Alberto, her son in law Gary, and daughter in law Yessenia, and her grandchildren, Anthony, Alicia, Andrea and Martina. She is also survived by her best friend of more than 60 years, Bertha. She will be dearly missed by all family and friends, and her puppy Tommy who gave her so much love and comfort.
She is preceded in death by her son Andres, her parents, Alicia and Ramon, and siblings, Ramon, Hilda, Manolo, Guillermo and Nenita, whom she is now joyfully reunited with in heaven.
A funeral is scheduled for Ida on August 6, 2021, at 10:00 am with a reception to follow at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral and Cemetery. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Mimi’s life. The family would like to thank all for the support and love during this difficult time. A special thanks to Mimi’s care team from MD Anderson and Encompass Health-Hospice, The Woodlands.
