Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and a great friend to many, Jack Neil Doherty went to his final resting place, July 6, 2021. Jack was born in Seattle Washington on September 27th 1939, attended Issaquah high school, and upon graduation joined the US Army. After a tour of duty in Europe, he attended the University of Washington and graduated with a degree in Marketing in 1965.
He then began his career with Shell Oil Company where he worked for 35 years obtaining the position of President of the Shell Oil Foundation; a job he enjoyed working with educators, fine arts, and not for profits to fulfil their potential.
Jack served on the board of trustees for the Texas Heart Institute. He was a past President of the American Leadership Forum. Jack served on the Advisory Board for the University of St. Thomas and as an advisor to the Houston Symphony. He was a member on the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo International and Arts committees, as well as being a part of the Business Education Coalition of Texas.
His leisure time was spent golfing with friends and neighbors, hunting, and traveling with family.
Jack was married to his wife Sharleen for 60 years. They have two children, daughter Debra Duggins husband Ted Duggins of Cincinnati. Son Ryan Doherty wife Stephanie Doherty of Round Rock Texas, four beautiful granddaughters Cassidy Miller, Colby Miller, Emily Doherty, and Megan Doherty…the lights of his life.
He is also survived by sister Kathy Roby, of Crystal River Florida, sister Kim Thompson husband Howard Thompson of Omak Washington, sister Sherry Drazic husband Tom Drazic of Kent Washington along with a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, any remembrances can be directed to the Texas Heart Institute, the University of St Thomas in downtown Houston, or the charity of your choice.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday July 15th, 2021 at Forest Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 18000 I-45S, The Woodlands, TX 77384.
