He was born in Dallas, Texas, on November 17, 1939. David graduated from Lamar High School and received his associate degree from Houston Community College.
James was married to Carolyn Wells on September 10, 1966.
Carolyn had a career in Finance & Banking with First City Bank.
He was a member of Dustoff Association and had a personal passion for both music and worship.
James was a Vietnam Army Veteran and served as a medevac pilot rescuing injured soldiers. Under his commandership 2,200 men were brought home to their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Sarah Semones and his brother Stephen Semones.
James is survived by his wife, Carolyn Semones, his children; Tammy, Stacy, Raelynn, Rene, Loren, Karen, and Marc. His grandchildren Shara, Chancellor, Michael, Zachary, Isabel, and Roxana. His brother; Danny Semones and his sister; Kathy Vowell.

Visitation will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home & Cemetery, Magnolia Room, 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384, US, on September 18, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A funeral will immediately follow from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
A graveside service at Forest Park The Woodlands Cemetery will be held, the same day, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
