Sue was born May 19, 1937 in Cincinnati Ohio and grew up across the river in Covington Kentucky. She loved music, singing, and dancing and attended many concerts in her youth. On one of those evenings at Moonlite Gardens dance hall in Coney Island, she pointed to the cute saxophone player and told her friend that she was going to marry that guy... and then one November a few years later they were set up on a double date and after a whirlwind courtship she did marry him!
Sue and Orlando "Len" Gagliardi were wed in 1958 and then moved to Chicago where Len worked as a music teacher. They made their home and raised their children in Lombard Illinois, and spent their summers fishing and swimming in the beautiful lakes and Northwoods of Minocqua Wisconsin. Sue was passionate about lifelong learning and had a deep curiosity about esoteric studies and nontraditional paths. She became a professional astrologer in 1975, earned her B.A. in Psychology from George Williams University in 1977, and her M.A. in Transpersonal Psychology from Atlantic University in 1992.
Sue and Len moved to Fort Walton Beach Florida in 1994 where Sue was very active with the Unity church community, she volunteered cooking meals weekly at the Ft. Walton Mission, and she practiced as a Bach Flower Consultant, Reiki Master, and Tai Chi instructor. Sue achieved her Doctorate of Divinity from the College of Divine Metaphysics in 2010, also where she had been ordained as a minister in 1993. Sue served as chaplain and officiated for several nontraditional wedding ceremonies while she lived in Florida including a few at sea.
Sue ran an astrology website for decades beginning in 1995, volunteering much of her time and expertise and serving clients worldwide. She began writing weekly Sabbath Devotionals as part of her doctorate work and then continued publishing daily devotionals online for several years, as well as publishing original haiku, stories, essays, and academic works on her site.
Sue lived in Bluewater Bay Florida for several years near her son Joe and his family then moved to Cincinnati in 2018 close to her sister Carol. After a few years she grew tired of the cold winters and moved to The Woodlands in Texas in 2023 near her son Lou and his family.
Sue was devoted to her family and was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and a cherished friend to many throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her husband Len in 2014, and her sister Carol in 2024. Sue is survived by her children Joe (Carol), Lou (Susan), and Carol Jean; her grandchildren Joey (Angel), Melissa, Jessica (Cal), Olivia, and Sophia; her great-grandchildren Carmella, Isabella, Isaiah, Elias, and Elsie; her nephew Bruce (Emily) and niece Susan (Neil), and many great-nieces and nephews.
No services are planned at this time - Sue was cremated and her ashes will be planted with a sycamore tree according to her wishes, and her family will be holding a celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in Sue's memory.
