Janice Louise Joseph Smith joined the lord on Friday, May 13th, 2011 after a brief battle with cancer. Janice was born on the 22nd of September, 1946 in Houston, Texas to Samuel and Nellie Joseph. She began her education at Holy Name Parochial School, continued at Incarnate Word Academy, and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a degree in education. She taught in the Houston and Aldine School Districts for more than 30 years. She was loved by many students and made an impact on their lives during her years as a teacher. After retiring, she enjoyed spending time with her grandsons, family, and friends as well as working in her yard and planning garage sales. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her daughters Jennifer Guillory and husband Jeff; and Allison Smith; three grandsons Ben, Ethan, and Landon Guillory; nine brothers and sisters, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. The family will gather to receive guests beginning at 3:30 p.m.
