Joan La Chiusa Holten, 86, of the Woodlands, Texas, passed away, Friday, April 17, 2026. She was born in Rochester, New York to Anthony and Concetta La Chiusa and graduated from Nazareth High School. Joni, as her friends and family called her led a fun- filled life. She moved to Texas in 1983 after her daughter moved to Houston, and her son arrived a year later. She worked in the hospitality industry as a Human Resource Director for several hotel chains, including Holiday Inn, Double Tree and Le Meridien.
Her greatest passions were traveling, the Houston Astros, reading murder mystery books, playing bridge and of course her kids and grandkids.
Later in life, Joni met her match in Richard Holten. They married in 2013. They had eight wonderful years together, until Richard’s death in 2020.
Joni was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Holten. She is survived by her daughter Robin (Michael Shriftman), her son Todd (Diane Cimino), and her grandkids, Anthony, Marcello, Arianna, Alexander and Marina.
A Celebration of Life for Joni will be held at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, Grand Hall, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384, on Saturday June 13, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
