Joan Faye Phillips-Grotts, 78, of Houston, TX passed away July 22, 2018. She was born in Nashville, TN on July 3, 1940. Joan was a graduate of Cooley High School in Detroit, MI and received her nursing degree from Oakland University. After earning her degree, she worked as a psych nurse for Kingswood Hospital.
Joan was a member of the Tomball Lion's Club. She enjoyed reading, dancing, and crafts. She is survived by her husband, Larry Grotts, son Dale (wife Tammy), daughter Penny (husband Kurt), son-in-law Blake Steele (wife Terrilynn), Lawrence (wife Adelaide), Julie Ann (husband Thomas), grandchildren Jennifer, Taylor, Gunnar, Kendra, Kaylyn, Erika, Jessie, Jordan, Zachary, and great-grandchild Arilyn.
A gathering in her honor will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation, in her name, to the Lung Association of America www.lung.org.
