John T. Halsey, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 16, 2018. He was born on July 28, 1931, in San Antonio, Texas, and was involved in many sports during his teenage years. After high school, John joined the Air Force where he proudly served for over 40 years, and was honored to retire with the rank of Colonel of the Air National Guard.
John married his beloved wife, Barbara, on August 19, 1966, and they just recently celebrated their 52nd anniversary. They spent many years in the Houston area before building their retirement home on Lake Conroe, where they were members of Calvary Road Baptist Church. John enjoyed landscaping his beautiful lake front yard, doing endless projects around the house, and most of all, spending time with his children and grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife, Barbara Halsey; his daughters, Debbie (and Jimmy) Crane, Cheri (and Mike) Harris, Leslie (and Ralph) Harrison, Cynthia (and Dave) Twitchell, and Janice (and David) Wheeler; his son, John Halsey Jr; his grandchildren, Alison (and Daniel) Murphy, Valerie (and Ally) Crane, Caitlin Crane, Erica Harris, Breana Harris, Jessica (and Joe) Pietragallo, Warren and Kayla Twitchell, and Christopher and Ricky Kalil; his sister-in-law, Marlene Halsey; his nephews, Weldon, Andy, and Tommie Halsey, Skipper (and Helen) Burgeois; and his nieces, Sherry Gay and Barbara (and Jimmie) Steidinger. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Hazel Halsey; his sister, Tommie (and Eddie) Van Ripper; his brother, Andrew Halsey Jr; and his daughter, Susan Nanette Halsey
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 20, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the chapel at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 Interstate 45 S, The Woodlands, Texas 77384. A Celebration of John's life will take place in the chapel on Wednesday, November 21, at 11:00 a.m. with interment scheduled for noon in Forest Park's Cemetery. Immediately following the interment, friends are invited to greet the family during a reception to be held in Forest Park's event room.
