I knew Ken from LA District V Honor Bands in high school (1960s), from the McNeese State University Band (1970s) & from the Lafayette Concert Band & the Iberia Community Band in SW Louisiana 1980s thru 2000s. We played music together for many many music events & were good friends for over 40 years.  We lost touch in the mid 2000s after he moved back to Texas & I just heard of his death today.  Something always seems to happen to the good ones.

I remember once when we all lived in Bel Dorm at MSU. Several of us were playing a practical joke involviing a quarter, a funnel, and a glass of water. After several victims to our joke we came up on Ken. His reaction was to burst out in laughter. To me this showed Ken's good nature and ability to laugh at himself.

I worked with Ken Offshore and knew him as a friend for many years until we moved outside of Dallas. I searched the internet for many years to locate him just to say hey. I came across this and it is so sad to see ken has passed away. I knew he loved his music and i still have his old stereo stuff. I look at the old photo of the Schlumberger baseball team and can name almost everyone in the picture. I know he loved his cats and I hope they are taken care of, You are very much missed Ken.

Knowing Ken for most of his life I can state without any fear of dispute that He was one of the most unique individuals I have had the pleasure to know.

Ken was a unique individual.  I shared an apartment with him in the mid 1970's along with two other college buddies and learned many things from Ken.  He could be challenging sometimes & questioned an opinion you may have.  I believe he was trying to stimulate people's mental thought processes by arguments and discussions. It worked with me.  He also had a sensitive ear for good stereo systems.  He loved all types of music.  I remember in the mid 1970's his measure of a good stereo system was listening to the Simon & Garfunkel album Bridge over Troubled Water" track  "Only Living Boy in New York City"  
If that song produced good vibrations on your stereo system, Ken approved.  I continued to stay in contact with Ken for most of the recent years while I visited another college buddy in Spring, Texas.  We would all have dinner, see movies, listen to music, have drinks, & visit with Ken about the good old days.  He will be missed.

For three and a half years of college, Ken tried hard to concentrate on his engineering studies while having me as a persistent distraction. While Ken was not usually the instigator, he was a willing (and sometimes unwilling) participant in the numerous adventures and misadventures.  I can't count the number of times Ken looked over the top of his glasses at me with that incredulous, unbelieving stare. What a cast of characters we had in the dorms, and later in the apartment while in school!  Fun times, for sure. We all managed to graduate and go on to become productive citizens. Ken and I lost touch for many years, but I was happy that we re-connected while he was in the nursing home (thanks Victor). I want to especially thank the McGuires  for their faithfulness and dedication. You folks are true friends indeed.

I will remember Ken with his complex blend of traits. As was demonstrated by his being both an engineer and a musician, he regularly exercised both sides of his brain. Smart, educated and talented .... he was a good friend that I will miss.

As we were growing up together, I remember Ken as quiet and observant, but with this quick dry sense of humor that just made you laugh.  He was so talented and intelligent, but very private with family members.  I am so grateful for his friends who are a testament to Ken's life, and say thank you for everything you have done. Ken was a person that was easy to know, hard to understand but compassionate in his heart. Ken created a lot of memories for me that I will carry forever. He once gave me a personal compliment that humbled me greatly coming from such a smart man. Ken will always live in my memories and the fun we had on "trips". Miss you already buddy-------

Since I didn't have presence of mind to make it known during Ken's memorial services, I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank Ken's many friends and acquaintances for attending.  Last Saturday's turnout was exceptional, and I'm sure Ken would be pleased.
Also, I can't let the moment pass without expressing my heartfelt gratitude to the McGuire Family (Steve, Debbie, Shannon, Erin & Kristin) for their tireless efforts throughout the entire period of Ken's illness.  While continuing to manage their own very busy lives, they also managed to give Ken the daily attention and care that normally only comes from immediate family.  Please remember these terrific people and the difference they made in Ken's life.  Thanks, guys.

I've known Ken since our college days in the 1970s at McNeese State University in Lake Charles.  Ken enjoyed a wide circle of friends (myself included) at McNeese, and was a memorable character for all who met him.  I and my college acquaintances will always remember Ken as the frequent instigator of a lot of fun times during our tenure at McNeese.
After college, Ken and I managed to keep in touch and we had the blessing of being able to cement a lifelong friendship.  We frequently had the opportunity to share travel experiences, discover a lot of great restaurants, routinely enjoy the Houston Symphony, attend audio conventions and often just sit down for simple visits and conversations.
I'll always consider Ken a fine individual and the very best of friends.  He will be missed.

Kenneth was the Assistant Clarinet Section Leader of the Woodlands Concert Band.  He was a great asset in helping me manage the section.  He was also a superior clarinetist.  His entusiasm for the music and his respect for the members of the section, and the entire band, will be missed.  He was a member of the WCB for 10 years and served on the board of directors.

I had an opportunity to work with him at Weatherford. He always had a mutual respect for everyone and I found a true friend in him. He will be greatly missed, may his soul rest in peace.
