Linda Kay Canion, 73, of The Woodlands, Texas passed away January 20, 2016. She was born in Houston, Texas on December 21, 1942 to Marshall and Mildred Harrington and lived a long and glorious life in Houston and later in The Woodlands. She grew up in the East End attending Austin High School. After graduating, she began working as an executive secretary in the commercial loan department of T.J. Bettis Company and saw firsthand some of the transactions that built Houston. She, however, had a desire to enter into the medical field, and later earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing to fulfill her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse. She provided care to many The Woodlands area residents while working for a group of Internal Medicine doctors. She had an intense desire to learn medicine and studied new developments continuously. Her proudest achievement, however, was the wonderful family she helped raise over thirty years in The Woodlands. She enjoyed playing and watching tennis, water skiing and family vacations. She had fought various cancers for more than 16 years. Most recently, she was involved in an experimental drug that had given her several extra years of life. She measured her extra years by the achievements of her grandchildren. She was always looking forward to the next milestone for each one. Her love for everyone was boundless and her positive attitude, at times even in the face of significant illness, has surely helped give her more time with us. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Jim Canion; sons James Canion, Michael Canion, and Chris Canion of The Woodlands; daughter Missy Thomas and husband Philip of The Woodlands; grandchildren Christian Canion, Cameron Canion, Abigail Thomas, and Addison Thomas of The Woodlands; mother, Mildred Harrington of The Woodlands; brother Tommy Harrington and wife Linda of Wimberley; sister, Lorie Myers and husband Phil of Houston; brother-in-law Rod Canion and wife Cam of Houston; sister-in-law Ann Hermann and husband Bill of Corpus Christi; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews.
