With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Linda Lodge Wuest, BSN, RN, OCN, on 14 July 2026 in The Woodlands, Texas. She was born on 27 April 1954 in Morgantown, West Virginia to William and Pauline Lodge. After being diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), she fought for three years with unwavering strength and determination. She dedicated her life to selfless service, bringing peace and dignity to her many patients over her 40 year nursing career, ensuring no one walked their path alone. She found special delight in keeping up with her four beloved grandchildren who affectionately called her “Oma”. The joy, love, and compassion for which she was known by everyone who met her stemmed from Linda’s deeply passionate love for Jesus, which she shared with everyone she met.
Linda was the second of four children, growing up alongside her brothers David Lodge, Jason Thomas Lodge and Daniel Stuart Lodge. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jason Thomas. Linda graduated from Westchester High School in 1972 and was honored as an Outstanding Wranglerette by her high school dance team. The pinnacle of her dance career was in her senior year when the Wranglerettes performed in the 46th Annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City. Linda attended college in Austin at The University of Texas School of Nursing where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1976.
Following graduation, Linda worked as a med-surg nurse at Park Plaza in Houston followed by a move to Austin where she worked at Brackenridge Hospital in cardiac care and then at Austin Diagnostic Clinic in Oncology and Pulmonology. She moved to Norman, Oklahoma, at the Norman Regional Hospital where she became the supervisor of med-surg, and then in Mandeville, Louisiana, where she worked at Ochsner Hospital as an oncology research nurse. Linda moved to Kingwood, Texas, in 1989 to work at Kingwood Minor ER, which became part of Northeast Hospital, where Linda became nursing manager of NEMER and then opened the 2nd clinic before eventually transferring to Northeast Hospital Cancer Center. She transferred to Northeast Hospice before returning to the Cancer Center where shortly after, Memorial Hermann acquired NEMCH. Linda was hired at Kelsey Seybold to be Nursing Manager of the Kingwood, Humble, and Airport Clinics for one year. Missing her oncology patients, she went back to the Memorial Hermann Cancer Center where she eventually started the Oncology Nurse Navigator program for the Humble Campus, which helped untold numbers of patients and their families to navigate the complex world of cancer treatment with knowledge and deep compassion. Linda was truly a gift to each and every family she served and she cared for everyone as if they were her own.
In addition to her BSN, Linda obtained her Oncology Nurse Certification to further serve her patients. She received many honors throughout her career and calling as a nurse. In 2002, she was awarded the Family Time Woman of Achievement for Nursing. In 2010, she was a Memorial Hermann “In the Pink” Honoree, and in 2011, The Lake Houston Area Chamber of Commerce named her Nurse of the Year. She was also featured on “Great Day Houston” with some of the breast cancer survivors whom she assisted in her role as Oncology Nurse Navigator. Additionally, she co-authored a published research study of oncology, “Mirror Studies”, that studied anxiety, body image, depression, and emotional well-being of women following mastectomy procedures.
Linda had a wealth of interests beyond nursing. She enjoyed running, swimming, and practicing pilates as often as possible. She enjoyed worshipping Jesus with her voice, and sang in church choirs and praise teams starting in high school. She cherished her opportunity to sing in the choir accompanying Michael W. Smith at Carnegie Hall in 2013. Linda was also a truly talented artist who worked primarily in watercolor, acrylic, and alcohol ink. Not only did her works decorate her home and make for cherished gifts to loved ones, Linda illustrated two children’s books, “The Humble Stone” and “The Compassionate Fish,” which were written and published by author David Paulus.
Linda is survived by Charles “Skip” Wuest, her beloved husband of twenty-seven years, her daughter, Elizabeth Segaloff (and her husband, Mark), her son, Eric S. Roberts (and his wife, Catie), her four grandchildren, Ellie Roberts, Claire Roberts, Luke Segaloff, and Blake Segaloff, as well as her stepson Charles N. Wuest (and his partner, Carrie) and stepdaughter, Leigh Anne West (and her husband, Patrick).
Linda was much loved and deeply respected throughout the community. Her abundant love and contagious laugh will be sorely missed.
The family would like to thank the hospice workers who attended in her final days and ask that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Team Gleason (teamgleason.org), an organization dedicated to supporting people living with ALS.
A visitation will be held from six o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Friday, the 17th of July at the Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home and Cemetery at 18000 Interstate 45 South, The Woodlands, Texas. A celebration of life will be hosted on Saturday, the 1st of August at Wake Church in Conroe (more details to come).
