Lisa Diane Covington, was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on December 8, 1959 and went to be with our Lord on August 14, 2019 at the age of 59. Lisa was preceded in death by her son, Trevor Covington and her parents Doyle and Wilma Moody.
Lisa and David made their home in the Woodlands, Texas in 2004. During this time Lisa became passionately involved with her sons lives while she balanced her career in floral design and decorating. Lisa loved being a mother and was very dedicated to her son Alec, providing guidance and support throughout his teenage years and as he developed into a young adult. She enjoyed their time spent together whether it be going to a movie or long late night talks. Lisa was also blessed with Zachary with whom she became integrated into the special needs community where she was able to support Zachary, but also because of her generous spirit Lisa was able to grow and provide loving support to so many others. Lisa volunteered for many years as Zach’s home room mother, organizing, leading, and investing her time and resources for the benefit of Zachary’s teachers and classmates. Lisa was selfless in giving and was at her happiest when she could impact the lives of others. Lisa always had a natural ability for floral design, which led her into a successful career. Lisa loved the various holidays, and her design and decorating talents enabled her to bring the holiday spirit to life, in her own home as well as many others.
Prior to moving to the Woodlands, David and Lisa first made their home in Oklahoma City, where Lisa was dedicated to spoiling her nieces and nephews. Lisa made herself available to keep them during their early childhood years, and adopted them as her own. There was no one like their Aunt Lisa. Her creativity began with her nieces and nephews, you could be certain that each day was filled with love and lots of fun activities. Lisa was the care taker of all of her family at that time, she never wavered providing love and support to her parents and siblings. The strong family bond was easily kept even though many miles separated them after they moved from Oklahoma. After Oklahoma City, Lisa and David made their home in St. Louis MO, then Wichita Kansas, and lastly her favorite place and what she called home, The Woodlands.
Lisa was so thankful and felt blessed by her community of friends and for the loving friendships she developed over the years. These friends became her treasured extended family.
Lisa had a love for the Lord and was baptized as young adult. Her strong Christian faith grounded her and carried her through the storms of life. When Lisa was diagnosed with cancer she never gave up believing the Lord would heal her. Lisa couldn’t imagine leaving her family and friends but as the time drew near she was able to hold strongly onto her faith and put her trust in the Lord to take care of her family.
Lisa leaves behind her husband of 36 years, David Covington, her 2 sons, Alec and Zachary Covington, 3 siblings, Terry Moody, Rhonda Spain, Stacey Farris and brother in law Brian Farris, Nina and Jim Bell, mother and father-in-law, Donna Covington, sister-in-law, and Joe Covington, brother-in-law, as well as 4 nieces, Brittany, Emily, Shanda, Amber, 3 nephews Dakota, Aaron, and Braton, 2 great nieces Stella and Cora and 3 great nephews Landon, Chase, and Brenner, and many other dear family members and so many treasured friends.
