Lois Ann Plummer Laird passed away peacefully at her home in The Woodlands, Texas, on May 21, 2018. She was born in Bangor, Maine on February 24, 1931, to Lisle Grindle and Ralph Plummer. She attended Bangor schools, graduating from Bangor High School in 1949. From the age of 8 until she was 14, she spent her summers in Maine enjoying camping at Camp Natarswi, a Camp Fire Girls camp, where she climbed Mt. Katahdin in 1950. In her adult years, she and Clayton enjoyed their visits back to Maine and their family trips to Nebraska.
In 1951, after graduating from Westbrook Jr. College, she was employed by Dr. Barret as a medical secretary. In 1953, she married the love of her life, Clayton Laird, and traveled to Lincoln, Nebraska where she worked at Lincoln General Hospital and later worked for Dr. Grace Loveland while Clayton attended the University of Nebraska and where their first child, Laura was born. After graduation, Clayton started employment with Texaco, Inc. and they traveled to various places until being sent to Houston, Texas where they set down roots and raised their children. While raising their children, Lois and Clayton were members of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church in the Sharpstown area in Houston where Lois was involved with the Mother’s Day Out program and their children attended Sunday school.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Wayne Plummer. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Clayton; their children, Laura Laird of Austin, TX, Alan (Annette) of Tomball, TX, Lisa Cooper of The Woodlands, TX, and David Laird (Lisa) of Janesville, WI; grandchildren, Ann Robinson, Elise Cooper, Danyelle Senti (Sam), Clayton Thomas Laird, and Kaitlyn Laird; great grandchildren, Victoria, Domonique, and Jeremiah; sister-in-law, Byrdine McCall; brother-in-law, Scott Laird (Patty);
and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at Forest Park The Woodlands Funeral Home, 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384. Following the service, a reception will take place in Forest Park’s event room.
